Bournemouth Airport (BOH)
Airport Information
(Bournemouth, Dorset, England, UK)
Bournemouth International Airport (BOH) is a convenient airport for reaching the south coast of England. Situated around 8 km / 5 miles to the north-east of nearby Bournemouth and west of the New Forest National Park, the airport lies next to Ferndown, Longham and Holdenhurst, and directly north-east of Poole. Serving 36 destinations across the UK, Europe and the United States, Bournemouth Airport features mainly charter airlines, which operate through its single terminal.
Popular budget airlines include Air Berlin, easyJet and Ryanair, who have all contributed to a considerable rise in passenger figures, which now top one million per annum. Bournemouth Airport is conveniently near to the UK motorway network, as well as being in close proximity to the Channel sea ports for access to France and the Channel Islands. A large industrial park is situated next to the airport, along with the Bournemouth Flying Club, where visitors are able to enjoy flight training. Modern aircraft simulators are also available and can be found onsite at the notable Bournemouth Commercial Flight Training Centre (BCFT).
Bournemouth Airport is located next to the A338, a major road leading to the town centre and also connecting to the M27 and M3 motorways. Yellow A1 buses provide a convenient '747' bus service, which connects the town's train station, Bournemouth Square and centrally located Travel Interchange - a combined bus and railway station. Buses run every two hours and the journey time is approximately 30 minutes from the airport to the town centre.
Taxis are also available onsite and link Bournemouth Airport with the neighbouring towns of Boscombe, Christchurch and Poole, and further afield, the city of Southampton. However, there is no direct rail link to the airport, with nearby Christchurch having the closest train station.
